Job Description:

National Youth Sports Counselor
Job Duties (description):
• Provide leadership (instruction/coaching) through sport related games and activities for campers ages 9-16 • Ensure the safety of Campers and Camp Activities in accordance with the UToledo Rec Emergency Action Plan. • Inspect all NYSP equipment and facilities, report all unsafe conditions and/or equipment to the Assistant Director, Programs & Leadership Development. • Assist on-shift Lifeguards with supervision and safety of campers while in the natatorium. • Assist with the chaperoning of campers on off-campus field trips. • Assist with the management and enforcement of the camp disciplinary policy and procedures. • Other Duties as assigned by the UToledo Recreational Services Professional Staff or The Division of Student Affairs. • HAVE FUN!

• Attend and participate in all trainings and meetings within employee group and department wide, including mandatory NYSP Counselor Training: May 30th – June 3rd, 2022).

• Maintain regular and frequent communication with supervisory team.
• Attend and actively participate in all NYSP trainings and meetings.
Working Conditions
• Maximum of 28 hours worked per week May 30th – June 17th, 2022.
• Work will take place on the Main Campus at Student Recreation Center Facilities, Health Education Center (HEC/ROTC Building) and off-site field trip locations.
• Work shifts include morning, afternoon, and evening hours.

• Must have and maintain current American Red Cross BLS CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Must clear a criminal background check through The University of Toledo.
• Attend all UToledo compliance trainings and new employee department and employee group trainings.
• Successfully complete 30-day probationary employment period.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must have and maintain current American Red Cross BLS CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Must clear a criminal background check through The University of Toledo.
• Attend all UToledo compliance trainings and new employee department and employee group trainings.
• Successfully complete 30-day probationary employment period.
