Grounds Assistant – Temporary

Job Summary:

The Groundskeeper is responsible for aiding in all facets of sports turf management as part of the athletics grounds team.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Mows of athletic fields and adjacent grounds.
2. Participates in all cultural practices including aeration, verticutting, blowing, topdressing, and sweeping
3. Paints athletic fields for camps or other events
4. Keeps areas clean of debris.
5. Repairs clay areas at Lupton Baseball field.
6. Grooms infield skin at Lupton baseball field.
7. Aids in irrigation repairs and audits
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Some training with large mowers, line trimmers, and edgers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to operate equipment required to perform the job.
• Ability to read, write, understand and clearly communicate instructions.
• Ability to apply care and maintenance techniques to landscape and hardscape materials.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is outdoors and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• Work in adverse weather conditions including rain and heat is expected.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
