Job Summary:
The Facilitator – NSA STARTALK is responsible for facilitating, under supervision of the principal investigator and instructional lead, activities in Chinese for students enrolled in the program. Facilitators will live on site with the participants in the STARTALK program. This program will run for two weeks (June 13-24, 2022).
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Collaborates with the instructional leads to help learners create and maintain a Chinese immersion learning environment both inside and outside of the classroom.
2. Facilitates in-class drill interactions.
3. Organizes and leads lunch and dinner conversations in Chinese.
4. Organizes and participates in extracurricular activities.
5. Guides learners self-paced study/homework activities.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Students (undergraduate and graduate) who reach the ACTFL advanced proficiency level in Chinese.

• Knowledge of and the ability to reach the ACTFL advanced proficiency level in Chinese.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment:
• Work is indoors and outdoors and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
