Assistant Coach, Competitive Cheer

The Assistant Competitive Cheer Coach position is a full-time, 12 month position and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the Gannon University Competitive Cheer & Dance program. The program competes at the intercollegiate II level and attends the NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship annually. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Recruits quality academic students who are also competitive student-athletes.
2. Trains, strengthens, and develops all cheer student-athletes on a year-round schedule, under the direction of the Head Coach.
3. Learns, understands, and complies with all USA Cheer safety rules and Gannon University regulations.
4. Promotes and represents the University whenever possible.
5. Assists in the development and implementation of a year-round strength and conditioning program for the team.
6. Assists with administrative tasks related to the Competitive Cheer & Dance program as requested by the Head Coach.
7. Assists in the development and implementation of camps and clinics.
8. Teaches advanced level stunting, baskets, and pyramids safely and with proper technique.
9. Teaches and spots beginner to elite tumbling skills safely and with proper technique.
10. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job.
